A total of 350 families have registered for The Christmas Place so far, and the registration window closes on December 8th.
WOODSTOCK - The Christmas Place is back for another year in Oxford County.
It was the first program to join Operation Sharing, and Director Kathy Gardiner says it has been helping less fortunate families since 1979.
"Christmas Place just offers a Christmas store. So it's the opportunity for parents to come in and have that Christmas shopping experience like you have when you go to Walmart or the mall, but they can shop a greatly reduced prices."
The gifts are priced anywhere between $1, $2, and $3 each and there's a $4 spending limit for the shoppers.
Those interested in joining the program have to register beforehand and they can find the form at a local church or social service agency. The registration deadline is December 8th, and 350 families have already registered as of this morning. This is a significant increase compared to last year which had 262 registered families.
Once all of the registrations are in, each shopper will be given a designated shopping day to look through the items on display at Huron Park Baptist Church. The kids will have their own day to shop for their siblings and parents as well.
Heart FM launched its Stuff the Bus campaign today, collecting donations for the Christmas Place. You can stop by our studio at 223 Norwich Ave in Woodstock to drop off new unwrapped toys, new clothing, or non-perishable food items anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on a weekday before Thursday December 7th. Cash and gift cards will also be accepted.
Kathy Gardiner stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Friday December 1st. You can listen to the full interview below:
