The Special Investigations Unit has charged a WRPS officer with attempted murder and discharging a firearm with intent.
WATERLOO - An officer with the Waterloo Regional Police Service has been charged with attempted murder.
The Special Investigations Unit started investigating the officer after an altercation back in March in Cambridge. Police were called to the industrial area of the City after a vehicle was stolen. According to the SIU the officer discharged his firearm several times after an interaction with the suspect.
Sergeant Richard Dorling has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm with intent.
Dorling was arrested by members of the SIU and released on the condition that he not own a firearm or communicate with the alleged victim.
He will have his first court appearance in Kitchener on December 19th.
