It was a generous contribution to many different groups and organizations last year from the Ingersoll Community Foundation.
INGERSOLL - The Ingersoll Community Foundation was feeling generous last year.
$395,923 was donated to help families, students, and charities. The funds supported multiple groups and organizations, including the Alexandra Hospital Foundation’s OneChart Campaign, United Way Oxford’s Light House transitional housing, STICH Supper Club, Stevenson Children’s Camp, and the collaborative FOOD Project. Families and individuals were also helped as organizations like the Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, and Ingersoll Support Services Incorporated were handed funding.
Included in the total, there was over $60,000 that helped people who are enrolled in post-secondary education through the Financial Educational Assistance for Training and Scholarship program. The FEATS program supports applicants with demonstrated financial need to pursue programs ranging from the re-certification of mid-career community members to students entering post-secondary programs directly from secondary school.
A former resident of Ingersoll, John Masters, donated $20,000 in matching funds for the FEATS program and had this to say.
"I recognized that the community I grew up in gave me so much and was instrumental in where and what I have today, and that it was time to give back. The ICF has done an outstanding job in establishing FEATS, and I have been thankful to see the real value of this program in providing effective mentorship for those accepted into the scholarship program."
Executive Director of Stevenson Children's Camp, Joe Douglas, says the funds go a long way for the organization.
"The commitment of the Ingersoll Community Foundation’s subsidy funding in 2025 ensured that financial barriers never prevented children from Ingersoll and area from experiencing the life-changing impact of summer camp."
Lastly, the Chair of the Ingersoll Community Foundation, Steve Tait, mentions how long contributions have been given by the ICF.
"Over the past thirty years, the ICF has quietly supported emergent, urgent, and chronic needs in our community for individuals, families, and service-delivering charities. We will continue to help those who find themselves at a loss despite the formal social safety nets that exist in our country."
