The Adult Day Program has been announced by Woodingford Lodge. Community residents that are on a crisis waitlist for a long-term care bed will be able to use this program.
WOODSTOCK - Woodingford Logdge in Woodstock has a new program.
Supervisor of Transitional Services, Tina Gray speaks to what the program will do.
"Starting on Monday, with the funding from our friends at Ontario Health, we are opening an Adult Day Program. So, this program is unique as it only caters to our community residents that are on a crisis waitlist for a long-term care bed."
Gray says the waitlist at the Lodge has 5-hundred and fifty people, 1-hundred of which are deemed in crisis. She adds, what the program entails.
"So eligible participants will come here for the day to enjoy a wide variety of activities. They are designed to improve cognitive, social, emotional, and physical functions."
Gray says a nutritious meal, and be helped with any medications needed.
Caregivers of participants have an opportunity for respite relief and are also eligible for on-site or virtual support from staff well-trained in dementia strategies and interventions and prepared to help families cope within the community.
