The work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday February 14th and it should be completed by December this year.
OXFORD COUNTY - A date has been set for the start of construction for the Vansittart Ave bridge.
Crews will begin work on February 14th, which will reduce traffic to one lane northbound between Devonshire Ave and Tecumseh Street.
There will be major reconstruction, including the removal and replacement of the bridge deck, structure repairs, and a new wider deck to accommodate bike lanes and sidewalks.
During the construction, there will be two detours including, Oxford Road 17 west to Oxford Road 30, and Oxford Road 17 east to Oxford Road 4.
There will be access for pedestrians through a sidewalk on one side of the northbound lane, and the side of the lane could change based on the work taking place.
Tecumseh Street to Pittock Conservation Area’s South Shore Trail is also open during the construction, however, the parking lot under the bridge will be closed to the public, as it will be needed for the project.
Anyone traveling in that area should expect delays and are being asked to obey all signs and keep a safe distance away from the machines to ensure everyone's safety.
Work is scheduled to be done by December of this year.
