Ten patients have tested positive for COVID-19 within the in-patient Medical Surgical Units of the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
TILLSONBURG - A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital.
It was declared on Friday, after 10 patients tested positive within the in-patient Medical Surgical Units. The hospital has already notified all of those affected and their family members.
Enhanced protocols are now in place. This includes COVID-19 testing of all inpatients, mandatory masking in all clinical areas, and restricting visitors to only those necessary for compassionate grounds.
The hospital has also closed off admissions to the 1 South and 2 South inpatient Medical Surgical Units. All other patient services remain open at this time.
April Mullen, the Chief Nursing Executive and Vice President of Clinical Services, says the safety of everyone is their number one priority.
"We want to reassure the public that our precautions, practices, and protocols to address COVID-19 within the hospital continue to be followed carefully. Our goal is to curb transmission within the hospital as well as protecting the health and safety of our community."
