Power is being restored this hour to much of Tavistock. The village has been having power woes since the thunderstorm that whipped through early Thursday morning. A hydro substation took a direct lightning hit, and repairs that were made on Thursday failed late last night. President of Erie Thames Power, Chris White, tells Heart FM that power is now being restored. A portable sub-station was brought in to provide a reliable source of electricity while the old station is repaired. White says at some point, they'll transition back. "We'll have to plan that out and notify people accordingly. We'll probably do it late at night or something like that. It would be a short duration outage, probably an hour or two hours at the most." Tavistock was virtually deserted today with most of the businesses shut down because of the outage.
