The SureStart Youth Entrepreneurship Program and the Woodstock Area Small Business Enterprise Centre have joined forces to help young entrepreneurs start their own business
OXFORD COUNTY - The SureStart Youth Entrepreneurship Program is teaming up with the Woodstock Area Small Business Enterprise Centre to help young people in the community start their own business.
They are delivering the Starter Company Program which offers young entrepreneurs access to training, one on one mentorship from local businesses and up to $5,000 to start or grow a business in Oxford County. Sure Start Program Coordinator Lindsay Wilson says "they offer six sessions of training to get you started and take you through a strong and successful business plan, that business plan is sent to a few local partners that give recommendations on changes to make them a little stronger and then the approval for the $5,000 and we also follow up with them to help them launch their business."
The Starter Program is part of Ontario's Youth Jobs Strategy which invested $45 million into the Youth Entrepreneurship Fund. To be eligible for the training and the government grant you must be between the ages of 18-29, not a full time student and willing to start a full time business and have a viable business proposal. In addition to the grant available through Starter Company, the SureStart program offers $1,000 bursaries to successful applicants. The requirements for the SureStart bursary are clients aged 18-29 and operating a business within Oxford County.
Anyone interested in this program can attend an information session offered at Community Employment Services Woodstock on the first and third Wednesday of each month.
