It's for those who are thinking about running in the municipal election later this year.
OXFORD COUNTY - The 2026 municipal and school board election is drawing closer.
All eight Oxford County municipalities will be hosting an information session for those that might be interested in running in the election. It will have details about the roles and responsibilities of council, who is eligible to run, the nomination process, and campaign finance and advertising rules.
The evening will include presentations from the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing as well as municipal solicitor Nigel Bellchamber. Attendees are encouraged to send questions in advance to their municipal clerk. The purpose is to help explain the basics of who is eligible, the nomination process, campaign finance rules, and more.
The event is happening virtually or in person Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Oxford County Administration Building. The municipal election will be taking place on October 26th, but the nomination and registration period starts on May 1st. This means potential candidates cannot sign up until then.
