Environment Canada is forecasting wind chill values in the minus 20s this morning and tonight.
SWPH - Southwestern Public Health has issued a cold weather alert for Oxford, Elgin, Middlesex, and St. Thomas.
Environment Canada says it could feel like minus 23 with the wind chill this morning. It's also forecasting a low of minus 15 for tonight, feeling like minus 20.
The health unit is advising everyone to dress warmly and stay inside as much as possible to protect yourself from frostbite and hypothermia. It's also a good idea to avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks because they can cause your body to lose heat more rapidly.
You can find more information about frostbite, hypothermia, and ways to protect yourself online here.
