Oxford County Council was all tied up over whether to allow a property severance for Cobble Hills Golf Course. The course and ski hill was purchased by Golf North last fall, and the corporation has no need for a house that came with the property. So, they tried asking for a severance from the County this week, which ended up losing on a pair of tie votes. The land is zoned as agricultural, and council debated whether allowing the severance might set a precedence for a line-up of farmers to come forward looking to sever off their houses and put them on the market. Doug Breen with Golf North... "I felt pretty strongly that this was a reasonable request, that a special provision was appropriate for what we were trying to do here but council has made its decision and we will live with it." Council wasn't able to approve any motions, despite the lower tier, Zorra Township, having approved of the severance.
