OXFORD COUNTY - A big step forward in green energy has been taken by Oxford County Council.
As they are getting ready to invest 1.2 million dollars into the installation of solar panels .
The panels will be installed at the Woodstock's Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Warden David Mayberry hopes that we can expect them up and running soon.
"I would think by next spring the process would be running it will take probably a couple months to get them up so maybe by late this year but assume by next year."
The use of green energy is one step in the right direction but Mayberry explains they want to do more.
"As we move forward the staff will be monitoring what is our actual generation, what can we do to further reduce and with the eventually you would like to be able to generate as much as you consume become fully sustainable."
The addition of the panels will offset about 23 percent of their electrical usage in the long run.
