The Oxford OPP would like to make sure everyone has a safe and happy March Break.
OXFORD COUNTY - No school this week, means kids will be looking for activities.
It is the start of March Break and making sure students stay safe and return to school is a big thing for Oxford OPP. Media Relations Officer, Randi Crawford is aware a safe March Break takes an all-hands-on-deck approach.
"Well, it sounds like we're going to have some great weather. So, there's going to be a lot of kids out and about. A few topics I want to cover are safety in all aspects."
She says parents need to make a plan to know where their kids are, the children need to listen to the plan as it is in place to make sure they are safe. They should also travel in a buddy system.
For motorists, they will need to just take an extra look before hitting the road. She also mentions that cyclists have to be careful as the roads could still have winter debris like sand and salt, which could make slick conditions.
Crawford says taking a vacation could be a part of your March Break, but you should always have a plan in place.
"We always encourage you to have a friend or family member that check-in, not just to make sure you haven't had anything broken into or mischief or anything like that, but make sure your pipes are okay and there isn't any flooding in your basement."
Crawford says on behalf of the Oxford OPP, she wants to wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy March Break and hopes everyone enjoys it to the fullest.
