The free information session will explain the basics of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, including who is eligible, the nomination process, campaign finance rules, and more.
OXFORD COUNTY - Clerks in Oxford County are teaming up to host a candidate information session.
This session is designed for new and returning candidates to municipal council. They will have presentations from the Ontario Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, as well as Fred Dean, a lawyer who acts exclusively for municipalities and municipal associations.
They will explain the basics of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, including who is eligible, the nomination process, campaign finance rules, and more.
City Clerk for the City of Woodstock Amy Humphries says the session is designed for new and returning candidates to help them understand the rules of running for municipal council.
"Oxford’s municipalities are once again working together to support citizens who are interested in serving their communities through political office. We're offering a session that provides information, guidance, and advice to potential candidates and other interested members of the public."
This is a virtual event and it is happening Thursday, April 14, 2022 - 6:00 p.m. The nomination and registration period starts on May 2nd, meaning potential candidates cannot sign up until then.
