Lots of motorcycles will be heading to Port Dover today to celebrate Friday the 13th.
PORT DOVER - The calendar has brought another Friday the 13th.
The day will see Port Dover flooded with all kinds of traffic. The weather is calling for sunshine, which will make it that much more enticing for motorcyclists to make the trip. Media Relations and Community Safety Officer with Norfolk OPP, Andrew Gamble shares his thoughts.
"We know that motorcyclists and motorcycle enthusiasts will show up in rain, shine, or snow, and last year at its peak there were approximately 50,000 people in the downtown area, and we would naive that we won't surpass that number this year."
Gamble says people should expect to see increased foot traffic in the downtown core, along with potential slowdowns while travelling through the area. He mentions that safety is the number one priority on a day like this.
"We are really asking people to prioritize personal safety and motoring safety. We are not reinventing the wheel as far as personal safety is concerned, that's just about making good, safe, and sound decisions."
Gamble says if you make good, safe decisions normally good things will happen.
OPP officers will be in Port Dover and the surrounding area to make sure everyone stays safe today.
