Deanna Kirwin will become the next Fire Chief for Zorra Township on July 15th.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - Deanna Kirwin is about to become Zorra Township's next Fire Chief.
She has been a volunteer firefighter with Zorra Fire and Emergency Services for six years now at the Embro Station. She's currently a Training Officer and she starts her new position on July 15th.
She's going to be in charge of the Township's 60 volunteer firefighters across three fire stations.
Kirwin will also oversee the Township's Emergency Management Plan as the Community Emergency Management Coordinator.
"I look forward to continuing, encouraging, and implementing strategies to make our community a safer place to work, live, and raise a family. I have always had a passion for the fire service and now having the opportunity to continue this career in my home community is an honour."
Kirwin will be taking over for John McFarlan, who recently announced his retirement. He has been with Zorra Fire since 1981 and he has served as Chief for the past nine years.
