WPS 911 Service Performing Above Standard

Woodstock Police are exceeding all the benchmarks for 911 performance. A recent report on Primary Public Safety Answer Point (P-PSAP) metrics shows the speed at which 911 calls are answered and transferred. Communications staff on Dundas St. answered incoming 911 calls within 2-rings, 97.6% of the time. The benchmark required is 90%. Police Chief Rod Freeman explains, the performance is even better when it came to transferring calls. "If we have to transfer the call down the stream to say a fire department or to the EMS service, there's an expectation that we'll do that within 30 seconds, 90% of the time and in fact we're doing it 99.7% of the time. So again, we're fair exceeding the standard expectation". The report indicates Woodstock Police answered over 23,000 calls from the County in 2012. The performance is an assurance for Oxford County, who have a 3-year agreement with Woodstock Police to provide 911 dispatch until 2015.
