A horrific case of domestic violence in Woodstock. City Police have charged a 38-year-old man with numerous assault and weapons charges in relation to a series of assaults against a 12-year-old child. Police responded to a domestic call last week, on March 25th, around Norwich Ave. and Parkinson Rd. They say the 38-year-old man had assaulted a 12-year-old with a weapon, but say there was no physical injury present on the child. Assault can be, by definition, a threat to cause bodily harm, coupled with the ability to cause harm. In this case, police say they discovered there was a history of the child being assaulted with both knives and a gun. The man's name is not being released to protect the identity of the child. He's being held, awaiting a bail hearing. He faces charges that include: -Assault with a weapon -Assault -Pointing a firearm -Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose -Mischief
