The Oxford County Animal Rescue will be hosting its first Wags and Whiskers Walkathon since the pandemic on Sunday September 24th.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Wags and Whiskers Walkathon is making a comeback.
The fundraiser for the Oxford County Animal Rescue will takeover Jakeman's Maple Farm on Sunday September 24th. This will be their first walkathon since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Foster Coordinator Anna Holmes says you can start fundraising right now.
"The sponsor sheets can be picked up at most of the vet clinics here in Woodstock or at our office. You can also shoot us an e-mail or message us on Facebook and we can drop one off."
The day will also include a microchip clinic for pets, a kissing booth for photo opportunities and Jakeman's will be serving maple-flavoured hot dogs. An online auction will also begin next week and it will close on the day of the walk.
During her monthly interview with Heart FM this morning, Holmes took the opportunity to remind everyone about the dangers of leaving a dog in a hot vehicle on a day like today. She says you should also think twice before taking them for a walk.
"Try to walk in the cooler parts of the day, earlier in the morning and at night. Remember, if you take your shoe off and you step on that cement and it's hot to touch on the bottom of your foot, it's hot to touch on the bottom of their feet as well."
