The United Way of Canada wants to go nation-wide with 211 service. But they want to create 211.ca, which would be less expensive than 211 phone service. Oxford County launched a 211 phone directory in 2010. Last week at the Oxford United Way AGM, CEO of United Way Canada, Jacline Abray-Nyman, said they are ready to roll out 211.ca, they just need money. "I would love to but really if we have a large financial partner come onboard that says that they believe that building this kind of internet based human services database right across our country, if that becomes a great importance and great mutual interest to ourselves and some external funders, then we will be right on it". You can call 211 to find out where to access human services from employment and financial, to family services, counselling, and child care.
