Don't be surprised if you get stopped in a RIDE program in the Friendly City during the Holiday season. Police Chief Daryl Longworth and Inspector Marci Shelton will be among the officers conducting RIDE checks today.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police will kick off their holiday RIDE programs today.
Police Chief Daryl Longworth and Inspector Marci Shelton will be among the officers conducting RIDE checks today. Constable Angela Wilson says if you plan on drinking this holiday season, don't plan on driving.
"The theme this year is drive smart, think smart, we are really encouraging people to be diligent in finding a safe ride home and having a plan in place before you go out that night. Whether you take a cab, spend the night, have a DD, just make sure you have a plan in place, because we want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday season."
Wilson says officers will be targeting high profile areas in the City, however RIDE programs can happen anywhere at any time.
"Safety is our number one priority here at Woodstock Police Service. We want all of our community members to have a festive, happy and enjoyable holiday season, while at the same time having a safe holiday season."
You will find WPS officers set up for RIDE programs at various times and locations throughout the city leading up to and during the holiday season and throughout the new year.
WPS would like to remind motorists that if you are going to consume alcohol or drugs put the keys down and do not drive. Find a means of alternate transportation or stay overnight.
Friends don’t let friends drive impaired.
