A combination of heat and stress has led to an increase in people fainting after getting a COVID-19 vaccine in the SWPH.
OXFORD/ELGIN/ST.THOMAS - Southwestern Public Health has noticed an increase in people fainting when they receive their COVID-19 vaccinations.
This is caused by the extreme heat lately and the combination of feeling nervous about taking the vaccine. If you are nervous about needles or have passed out or fainted before, following immunization, please let the person who will be administering your vaccine know.
You can avoid fainting by making sure you drink plenty of water and a good sized meal before your appointment. Also make sure to show up wearing comfortable and cool clothing. Other tips include wearing headphones and listening to relaxing music during your appointment.
