The Northern Tornadoes Project has evidence that a tornado may have occurred in Tavistock on Wednesday.

TAVISTOCK - It looks like a tornado may have touched down in Tavistock.

In a post on Facebook last night, the Northern Tornadoes Project stated that it had evidence that tornadoes likely occurred in the Tavistock and Bamberg areas when a big storm blew through the area on Wednesday. Crews will be on site investigating today.

In an interview with Heart FM yesterday, severe weather meteorologist Rob Kuhn said the the Doppler radar showed a tornado detection signature in the Bamberg area.

He also said Oxford County saw wind gusts of about 90 to 100 kilometres per hour and received about 10 to 35 milimetres of rain.

Several people are still without power in the north end of Oxford County. You can visit the HydroOne outage map for up to date information.
