The Christmas Place had a record number of shoppers and donations this year, and there are still leftover available gifts at Operation Sharing.
WOODSTOCK - It was a record-breaking year for Operation Sharing's The Christmas Place.
Director Kathy Gardiner says they had a record number of shoppers last Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
"We had 517 families registered online. Of those, 455 came to shop so we did miss some families for whatever reason. We did send out e-mail reminders so people were aware and reminded of their shopping days."
Over 300 kids participated in the kid's shopping day on Saturday.
Gardiner doesn't have the exact numbers for the whole week, but she knows a record number of gifts went out the door in the end.
"On children's day with the 309 kids, we know that 998 gifts went out that morning alone. That's in three hours and we wrapped them and everything before they went back to their parents. For the parent shopping days, parents buy an average of three to four gifts on our program per child."
But with all of this being said, Gardiner says there are still lots of gifts leftover thanks to the record number of donors this year.
"Between our corporate toy drive, all of the businesses that support Oxford County, Heart FM's Stuff the Bus campaign, churches, and individual families with donations it was amazing! We had a lot of gifts."
Those who would like to shop through the leftover gifts, regardless if they were registered for The Christmas Place or not, can stop by Operation Sharing from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. today, tomorrow and on Friday. The gifts cost $1, $2 or $3 each and there's a $4 limit per child.
Operation Sharing is based out of College Ave Church at 22 Wilson Street in Woodstock.
