Supplies 4 Students Campaign Officially Started!

United Way Oxford has officially kicked off their Supplies 4 Students campaign. This year those who register for the financial help will receive monetary donations in the mail.

Oxford- United Way Oxford has officially kicked off their Supplies 4 Students campaign, but it will operate a little differently this year. Instead of accepting actual supply and backpack donations, United Way is asking for monetary donations so the families in need can actually purchase the items themselves.

Campaign Coordinator Jennifer Belleth says this will allow the families to personalize their shopping experience.

"Some students are asked to have certain supplies, it will allow children to do that. It will also empower them to be able to make the choice, if it's the backpack itself what colour or what pattern of what backpack they actually like can and  can feel proud about wearing."

Staples is a partner in the campaign and will also help families select the items they want and need while staying within their budget.

Belleth explains how families in need can apply.

"To access the program, be it a family who has had a sudden loss of income or had been living on a limited income for a while, they just need to call 211 to register. We would like to support every child that does register for the program that needs the support."

Those who register for the financial help will receive the monetary donations in the mail. You can donate to the campaign at the Staples locations in Woodstock and Tillsonburg, at United Way Oxford locations or online by clicking here.
