There's still time to register for a CANWARN Storm Spotter Training Session in Innerkip.
INNERKIP - Oxford County residents with an interest in weather patterns can now sign up for a CANWARN Storm Spotter Training Session in Innerkip.
The presentation will be lead by Jeff Coulson; a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada with more than 35 years of experience under his belt.
"What we're providing is a better understanding of the weather. Certainly in more rural communities in Ontario a lot of folks already have a good basic understanding of the weather, so we're adding to that information."
Those who attend will be able to look up in the sky afterwards, and determine if there is a severe thunderstorm forming. They will be able to provide on the ground weather reports to Environment Canada.
Coulson says they will also know how to protect themselves in dangerous weather conditions.
"The whole last third of the presentation is all about weather safety; what to do in terms of severe thunderstorms that could produce large hail, damaging bursts of wind, flooding rain or those extreme storms that could produce tornados."
The presentation will take place on Tuesday April 24th at the Innerkip Community Centre, with everything getting underway at 7pm. It's free to attend, but you have to register online beforehand.
