Stonegate Park in Innerkip will be getting a complete facelift - including new playground equipment for children between 18 months and 5 years
INNERKIP - Innerkip residents will benefit from a new and improved park as early as the middle of summer.
Proposals are currently being accepted to purchase new playground equipment to be placed at Stonegate Park. Chief Administrative Officer for the Township of East Zorra Tavistock Jeff Carswell states that the new equipment will be geared towards a younger age. "It's been just an open space kind of park. There is a community group that got together, and basically came up with some ideas to better use the park. They wanted to get something a little bit more geared towards 18 months to 5 year olds. They were at that point where they had come up with basics but they wanted the creativity of the playground companies to put forward proposals."
Carswell outlines the facelift the park is set to undergo, "This is something that would have to go to council for final approval. We are looking at coordinating the trail paving, and hopefully by the middle of summer we can kind of say this project is done that the trail is paved, the benches are all there, the playground equipment is in there but be a little bit of final touches."
The transformation of Stonegate Park will include many new additions, and Carswell is pleased with the financial assistance the endeavour has been granted. "We got approved for $26 500. We are hoping that playground equipment comes in around that. Then we will also have some township money that is going in this for the trail. There are also some kind of related activities like park benches, and tree planting because some of trees had to come out."
Carswell added unlike other parks in Innerkip, this will be the first geared towards this specific age group.
