Seed Saving Workshop

The Woodstock Environmental Advisory Committee hosts a seed saving workshop at the Woodstock Public Library.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Environmental Advisory Committee will host a seed saving workshop at the Woodstock Public Library.

The event will teach people basic techniques that can be used to save high-quality seeds for flour and vegetable growth.

Vice-Chair of the WEAC Tom Butler, tells Heart FM that the workshop is open to people who already garden, as well as those who are interested in learning about growing their own food.

"It is a good event for people with green thumbs to go to, but it can also be for anyone. If you don't garden, this is a good opportunity to learn some of the different things and the fun things you can do in your garden."

Butler says the workshop will also be a way for people to learn more about the Seed Library at the Woodstock Public Library.

"That opened two years ago and so we're just trying to promote the Seed Library and grow it and make sure it's sustainable for the future."

The Woodstock Seed Library is committed to increasing people's ability to grow their own fresh food by sharing knowledge and resources.

The free workshop will be held on September 14 from 7 pm to 8pm, and will be lead by Bob Wildfong, Executive Director of Seeds of Diversity Canada.
