Mark Burnison says equal and adequate representation are key for his platform.

BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM -- He wants to be the "alternative for people who are ready to challenge the status quo."

23 year-old Mark Burnison has filed his papers to run for Mayor of Blandford Blenheim.  He hopes to bring equal representation to the township after hearing residents say they don't feel adequately represented. "I feel replacing the at-large system with the a ward system, pulling the same wards that the fire department currently uses which will allow each and every town and village in Blandford-Blenheim to be adequately represented and have a government, a councillor that will adequately represent them and be responsible to the people in that district."

Burnison says freedom, lower taxes, more efficient services and a government that represents the community are all key elements of his platform.  He says he wants to be the alternative choice for mayor and stresses that being accountable is being responsible.

A graduate of Niagara College and Brock University, Burnison has post-secondary certifications in Culinary Arts and General Arts and  is currently employed as a full-time cook.  He also volunteers at the Princeton Museum and is the Libertarian candidate for his hometown of Hamilton-East Stoney Creek.

Burnison says he is concentrating on his provincial election at this time and will redirect his focus to the municipal election after June 12th.  At this time, he is wanting to get his name out there, what his beliefs are and let the residents of Blandford-Blenheim know that he is ready to stand up to the county.
