The Stratford Perth Humane Society is looking to their neighbouring communities, including the Friendly City, to help with their current adoption promotion. The promotion is going until supplies last.
OXFORD COUNTY - Woodstock is among the neighbouring communities who are being asked to help the Stratford Perth Humane Society.
There is an overflow of cats at the SPHS and they are looking to help spread the word on their adoption promotion.
Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications, Calla Spencer says the adoption will feature adult cats, who are six months or older, for a low fee of $50.00.
"When they come in they meet with one of our adoption counsellors, meet the cat that they might be interested in and we do what we call an adoption survey to find out what type of pet they're looking for and personality. And then we can go through the counselling process with them as to what the personality of the cat is that they're looking at, are they a good fit for their home? And then if they do decide to adopt we have an adoption contract, an agreement that they sign and we get them ready to go home."
They also have three sets of bonded pairs, two pairs of brothers and a mother-daughter duo, that they hope to find forever homes for.
By lowering the fee she says they hope it generates more interest among people who were looking to come in, if they were already considering adoption.
"Our adoption fee is a fantastic one for $50.00. It includes our spay/neuter, microchip, flea and worm treatment, as well as their age approximate vaccination. And each of the cats go home with a adoption kit from Royal Canin and right now we're including a small toy or treat as well."
The promotion is going until supplies last. The centre is open every day, except Wednesday, and more information can be found here on their website.
