Like many Canadians who spent their childhood participating in the Terry Fox Run at school, he reminisced about the times he spent doing the run with his elementary school.
CANADA - Ryan Reynolds is teaming up with the Terry Fox Foundation for this year's fundraiser.
The Vancouver Native helped to design the limited-edition shirt that can be purchased from their website. On the front the shirt features terry fox on his run, with the words Dear Terry in the background. On the back you can find letters of inspiration written to Terry.
Reynolds announced the partnership in a tweet over the weekend. Like many Canadians who spent their childhood participating in the Terry Fox Run at school, he reminisced about the times he spent doing the run with his elementary school.
"I've been taking part in the Terry Fox Run since second grade and can't think of a more enduring and lovely legacy for one person. Terry Fox inspired millions in life and death."
Happy to be involved with the #DearTerry initiative for @TerryFoxCanada. I’ve been taking part in the Terry Fox Run since second grade and can’t think of a more enduring and lovely legacy for one person. Terry Fox inspired millions in life and death. ❤️ 🇨🇦 pic.twitter.com/1EM2hD0w6R

Kristin Fox, Terry's eldest niece who is involved with the foundation explained where the idea for the shirts originated.
"We're kind of bringing it back to all of the amazing letters and words of support and drawings and cards that Terry would have received, during and after his Marathon of Hope"
With the new shirt in such high demand to the public, the foundation allowed its first ever merchandise pre-sale over family day weekend. They have sold more the 8,000 shirts so far.
Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope on April 12, 1980 to raise funds for cancer research.
His dream of running across the country was cut short near Thunder Bay when he learned that cancer spread to his lungs. He passed away on June 28, 1981.
