Oxford OPP will be out on the streets to make sure everyone is safe as we ring in 2025.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP will be out in full force today making sure the roads are safe.
People will be celebrating the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, whether at a house party or out on the town. Community Safety/Media Relations Officer Constable Randi Crawford says following the rules of the road will be the best way to ensure that your New Year's Eve is fun and safe.
"We are going R.I.D.E programs, we're going to be doing proactive policing, we're going to be out there in our cruisers and we are going to be responding to any suspicious people, any suspicious vehicles, things like that."
Crawford says New Year's Eve is a day when people's homes or vehicles could be more at risk for break-ins as they might not be home. She adds that there are so many areas of safety when it comes to celebrations and shares what she thinks is most important.
"The big key is just to have a plan. So, whether you are going to be walking to a party or whether you are driving, you want to make sure you do that safely and always have a sober person with you."
Crawford says having a sober person can go a long way just in case there is an emergency and 9-1-1 has to be called. Crawford also talked about some rules of the road as it was the December edition of Tip Tuesday.
