Woodstock Police are warning of pushy door to door sales people in the area trying to sell paving services. Residents are being reminded that they have control of their own property and can ask sales people to leave at any time. Police say do not invite the sales person into your home and if the person wont leave, call police. If you are considering entering into an agreement with a paving company here are some tips: Verify they are a legitimate company ? company truck, business phone you can contact, HST number, brochures, references, etc Legitimate paving companies would have made application to the City for a permit to conduct door to door sales for services and should be able to produce their permit. Ask if there is a warranty with the work and what that includes. If neighbours have used the same contractor, inquire with them about price so you?re not overcharged. Obtain a written estimate so there?s no discrepancy about price when the work is completed. If you are feeling pressured and not ready to make a decision on the spot, ask them for their business card so you can contact them at a later date.
