The proposal will look to extend the boundaries at Karn Road, located on the west side of Woodstock. A public consultation meeting will be scheduled for next month.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City council's Boundary Adjustment Committee has reached an agreement, in principle, with the Township of Southwest Oxford on the boundary adjustment report.
A proposal was brought to council at a recent meeting. Mayor Trevor Birtch says they can now move forward.
"Southwest Oxford has agreed in principle to the terms, so has Woodstock City council, and we're looking at holding a public meeting for those in the affected area coming up in August. We're looking at the 13 or 14th of August and as soon as we have the date and time ironed out we'll be communicating that with the public."
The proposal will look to extend the boundaries at Karn Road, located on the west side of Woodstock.
Mayor Birtch says the proposal was deferred last month by Southwest Oxford.
"Southwest Oxford needed to gain a little more comfort around some of the terms and they were looking at the area and wanted to make a small change to the defined geography. now we have the geography defined and everyone is comfortable with the terms and now it's time to go to the public."
According to council's report, the scope of the proposed boundary adjustment is approximately 250 acres resulting in about 130 acres of greenfield development potential. There is potential for more land growth on the parcel lands once municipal services are available. The lands have been approved for residential growth.
The report also states the terms are based on past boundary adjustment agreements, with one exception however. The exception is the additional compensation of a one time payment of $250.00 to the Township for each residential unit that is proposed.
The public consultation will be held before voting on whether to support or oppose a restructuring proposal.
