The LGBTQ Pride Flag will be flying high in Woodstock from June 13th to the 20th.
WOODSTOCK - The LGBTQ Pride Flag will be flying high in Woodstock from June 13th to the 20th.
Tami Murray, Chairperson of Oxford County LGBTQ Pride Committee says times have changed in Woodstock.
"There was a lot of scepticism and we were concerned. This demonstrates we are moving forward and our community is not buying into myths about homophobia and heterosexism and we have support. I think it is fabulous."
Murray says this step is going in the right direction.
"As many of you know or may not know the pride rainbow flag is a universal symbol for diversity and acceptance for the LGBTQ community. It really endorses that Oxford county, Woodstock city council and our community supports our diversity and inclusion of the LGBTQ community
Murray says she is thankful for this opportunity.
"We are making history. June 13th will be the only time that a pride flag has been flown at city hall."
Tami would like to thank Woodstock residents, city council, and the mayor for allowing the flag to fly.
