Police are thanking a good Samaritan who took the keys from a man who was about to drive drunk.

MITCHELL - Perth County OPP were called to the LCBO in Mitchell after staff refused service to a man because he was too drunk.

When police arrived a good Samaritan handed them the keys to a GMC Sierra pickup. The citizen had taken he keys from the man who was refused service because he was going to get into his vehicle and drive, despite showing obvious signs of being drunk.

The officer spoke with the man who was refused service and determined he was indeed intoxicated. He was taken to the Perth County OPP detachment in Sebringville where he failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

The 53 year old man from St. Marys was charged with impaired driving.


STRATFORD - A 23 year old woman from North Perth is facing an impaired charge after officers caught her speeding just outside of Stratford.

Police pulled over the Nissan Rogue on Hwy 8 West of Stratford early Tuesday morning for speeding. When the woman rolled down her window the officer noticed the smell of alcohol coming from her breath. She was taken to the Stratford Police Station where she failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests.

The woman has been charged with impaired driving. No word if police let her off on the speeding ticket though.
