Oxford EMS Honour Paramedic Services Week

Emergency Medical Services will visit Oxford County high schools this week, in order to give teens a first hand look at what it's like to be a paramedic.

Oxford County EMS will honour Paramedic Services week by visiting local high schools.

They will be touring the High Schools in Oxford to give kids a first hand look at the work they do. Supervisor of Education for Oxford EMS Ryan Hall tells Heart FM what they will be doing at the schools.

"We will have tables set up with demonstrations of some of the equipment that we use, cardiac monitor defibrillator, auto pulse, which is a machine that does CPR for us, we will have it set up for a demonstration and then some of the other medications and equipment that we bring into every call."

Hall says it is an intense job that can be very difficult; however it can also be very rewarding.

"We do see some pretty sad and unfortunate circumstances that we are part of and have to deal with but we also get some good times as well, we do get to help usher in new life into this world on occasion and that is the good part of our job."

Also on Saturday May 28th EMS will be at the Tremblett's Independent Grocers in Ingersoll with their Stuff the Ambulance Food Drive that will go to support local food drives. They will also have BBQ that day from 9 am to 3 pm will all the proceeds going to Operation Sharing.
