Old Watering Hole Getting New Life

Bringing back a former night-life hot spot in Woodstock is an issue for city council this week. The new owners of 95 Victoria St. South, formerly "The Zoo" and "Mosaic Bar and Grill" are trying to bring back the old watering hole. They've applied for a liquor license from City Hall. Police Chief Rod Freeman says he doesn't want to create problems for a new business starting up, but he does want to see safety measures in place, including a Closed Circuit Television System. "Things like closed circuit TV's help us in the event we have to go and do an investigation. And that type of technology can assist the business owner too, to prove they've done all the right things in certain circumstances. And if an investigation is required, that can support the business owners' position, as well as help us with the investigation." Freeman is also calling for proper security staff, and a fence surrounding the patio. That would ensure separation between the bar's patrons and nearby railway tracks. The liquor license application says the bar will be able to accommodate up to 575 patrons.
