City Councillor Mark Schadenberg decided to withdraw his motion calling for Acting Mayor Connie Lauder to receive a pay raise, but he said he might reintroduce it another time.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Councillor Mark Schadenberg rescinded his motion to give Acting Mayor Connie Lauder more pay while she is handling extra duties, covering for Mayor Trevor Birtch.
Birtch is still collecting his mayoral salary. He has asked Lauder to fulfill his mayoral duties after being charged with assault, sexual assault and sexual assault with choking.
Schadenberg had put forth a motion, calling for Acting Mayor Lauder to be paid an extra $3,000 a month, while she handles extra duties. He withdrew the motion at the start of the meeting but did say he might reintroduce it another time.
The mayor's salary is just over $75,000, while city councillors earn a base salary of $33,000 and the acting mayor is paid just over $35,000.
Woodstock City Council elected Lauder to the Acting Mayor position back in January.
