City Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer discussed the hiring process for a new CAO during the Heart FM Morning Show.
WOODSTOCK - The search is on to fill the position of CAO in Woodstock.
City Council will be discussing the next step that needs to be taken, as current CAO David Creery is set to retire in February. Councillor Liz Wismer-Van Meer was on the Heart FM Morning Show and says there are three options council has been given.
"One of them would be having the human resources department of the city go through that recruitment process and do the hiring. A second option that they're presenting is to use a third-party firm. The third option that council can consider is holding off, not making a decision right now."
Wismer-Van Meer adds that filling the position needs to be done the right way, as the CAO is in charge of all City staff. She also mentions what other considerations could be used.
"In the report, they talk about potentially having an interim CAO if the right candidate is not found right away."
Wismer-Van Meer says council could come back with other options as well, but will have lots of discussion at their meeting this week. If you would like to hear the complete Morning Show interview with Liz Wismer-Van Meer, you can do so below.
