The Woodstock Police Service is warning residents about a new scam circulating in the city.
WOODSTOCK - A new scam has been brought to the Woodstock Police.
There have been reports of suspicious phone calls from individuals posing as City of Woodstock employees or city contractors. What you should know is that City of Woodstock employees or contractors will not request entry into a residence through unsolicited phone calls, legitimate city staff and contractors do not pressure residents for access, and you should be cautious of callers asking about occupancy, schedules, interior layouts, or access points.
You can protect yourself by not allowing unexpected individuals into your home, not sharing personal or household information with unsolicited callers, verifying any city-related work directly with the City of Woodstock using official contact information, and, when in doubt, declining access to your home.
If you receive a call like this or someone attends your residence, do not engage or provide access and contact the Woodstock Police Service.
