Expect to see plenty of delays on Mill Street in Woodstock this Spring and Summer.
WOODSTOCK - Mill Street in Woodstock is going to be getting some major work done this Spring.
Oxford County Council has approved a contract to Viewcon Construction who have provide the County with a $1.5 million dollar quote for the road reconstruction and a $1.2 million dollar quote for the water main repairs.
Director of Public Works David Simpson says this will be a major project.
"We basically have three different integrated projects happening on Mill Street from Queen Street down to Athlone Avenue. One chunk of that road work will be a major road reconstruction between Parkinson Road and Pember's Pass. That is scheduled to run from May to October 2018. Secondly we are doing a replacement of a cast iron water main from Queen Street and Parkinson Road from March to July. Throughout that contract we will be doing asphalt resurfacing for the top coat from different segments all the way from Queen Street to Parkinson Road and Queen Street to Athlone from June to September."
Simpson admits this will create some traffic issues this Spring and summer.
"It will cause some disruption to the local community, we are doing are best we can to integrate a plan around that with the City of Woodstock to make sure we have sufficient passage for emergency services first and foremost and minimizing whatever lane restrictions and road closures we can do, given the length of that construction site."
