A new memory clinic in Tillsonburg could help people receive treatment closer to home.
TILLSONBURG - People coping with memory loss in Oxford County can now receive treatment closer to home.
75 memory clinics have been opened across the province by the Adopting Research to Improve Care Program, including one in Tillsonburg.
Director of the Centre for Family Medicine - Memory Clinic Dr. Linda Lee says this will help people access the specialized services they need.
"They will have access to a team of knowledgeable health care professionals who have received extra training and they will now be able to get an accurate diagnosis much more quickly."
Lee says every effort has been made to make this as streamlined as possible.
"There's no cost for them to receive this care - it is funded through Ministry OHIP funding, all they need is a referral from their family doctor."
Overall, 17 new clinics were opened in under-serviced and rural areas to help more people access the programs they need. These communities include Chatham, Harrow, Manitouwadge, Northbrook, Portland, Red Lake, Schreiber, Temiskaming Shores, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Windsor, and Zurich.
