Before you head to an event or social activity during COVID-19, Southwestern Public Health says there are some questions you should ask yourself. They say you can lower your chances at getting infected by washing your hands frequently or wearing a mask.
OXFORD COUNTY - Southwestern Public Health says residents are to keep in mind about the decisions they make before they head out to events during COVID-19.
They say to ask yourself questions as to whether it's appropriate or not to go to an event or an activity.
Some of the questions include are you at a high risk of developing serious complications if you become infected? And are there people who are at high risk of developing serious complications of COVID-19, either in your house or social bubble that you could infect unintentionally?
Other questions to ponder include:
- If you have to self-isolate due to exposure, will this seriously disrupt your upcoming plans, priorities and responsibilities?
- Has the host structured the location to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, making it easy to maintain physical distance from others and requiring people to wear face coverings?
- Can you adjust your participation mid-event, for example by stepping away if it gets crowded, wearing a face covering and washing your hands?
The health unit adds before you go to an event or activity, you can lower your chances at getting infected or spreading the virus by considering the following:
- If you have any symptoms, even mild ones, stay home, stay away from others and get tested.
- Keep up with physical distancing, hand washing and wearing a face covering.
- Limit the number of locations and social gatherings you attend before a planned event to reduce the risk of spread during the event.
