Lock it or Lose it Delhi

Police checked 238 cars in Delhi on Saturday to see if people are locking their doors.

DELHI - Norfolk County OPP, along with the Delhi Policing Committee, conducted a Lock It or Lose It program on Saturday. 

OPP members patrolled various areas of Delhi, inspecting over 238 vehicles to see which were locked and safe from potential criminal activity.

In their survey, they found that 3 had their windows open, 2 were unlocked, and 58 had valuables such as wallets, purses, and GPS's lying in plain sight.

On the reverse side of things, Police concluded that 130 vehicles were completely locked, with valuable items hidden away.

OPP would like to remind all citizens to lock their vehicles and keep all valuable items in a space where they are safe from prying eyes. Because if you don't lock it, then you'd better be prepared to lose it. 

"I am proud of the officers and the community policing volunteers who are dedicated in making a difference in our community," said Inspector Joseph Varga, Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander. "This was an opportunity for our community residents to be involved with proactive prevention before someone becomes another statistic of stolen property from a motor vehicle."
