He talked about a new housing development for Woodstock and upcoming road reconstruction for Highway 2 in Thamesford.
OXFORD - Oxford County Council has approved an official plan amendment for a new housing development in Woodstock.
Warden Marcus Ryan says a developer is looking to bring 64 units to the old Salvation Army property on Huron Street.
"The private property developer is going to build stacked townhomes. This will be a denser form of housing which is generally more affordable, so it's not going to be million dollar homes."
It won't be classified as affordable housing because it won't be owned by the county.
You can look over some of the diagrams and concept drawings for the development online here. There's no word as to when construction will begin.
Oxford County is also looking to address the higher amounts of traffic on Highway 2 going through Thamesford. Warden Ryan says the county has already held two public meetings about this.
"There were extensive changes made after the first meeting. The intersection of Highway 2 and Highway 19, heading off towards Ingersoll from Thamesford, was initially proposed as a signaled traffic light intersection. Based on public input at the first meeting, that has been changed now."
He adds staff members are currently going through all of the input gathered from the second public meeting. The goal is to have a plan finalized in August, so road reconstruction can begin in the fall.

- The speed limit adjustment that was approved for Oxford Road 28 in Harrington.
