Premier Ford has warned about the potential for Regional shutdowns if COVID-19 numbers continue to rise. SW Public Health says we can avoid this fate by working together as a community.
OXFORD COUNTY - Premier Doug Ford has warned the potential for regional shutdowns if the daily COVID-19 numbers continue to climb.
Medical Officer of Health for Southwestern Public Health Dr. Joyce Lock says we can avoid this fate by working together.
"Public Health would like to keep the case count down, that said we are attempting balance keeping society open, with keeping society safe from COVID-19."
Dr. Lock says we can avoid further shut downs by following the guidelines that are already in place.
"Things like stay home if you are sick, wash your hands, wear a face mask, wash high touch services. If all of our community members cooperate and we stay in our social circle, we will not have to face another shutdown, however as the Premier has indicated, it is always a tool in our back pocket but hopefully with the cooperation of our community, that will not be needed."
Dr. Lock says the goal is to balance a potential second wave by keeping the community safe but also keeping things open.
