Police say the former member of One Direction fell from a third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires.
BUENOS AIRES - Former One Direction member Liam Payne has died at the age of 31.
Police in Buenos Aires say he was found dead yesterday after he fell from a third-floor balcony.
A Security Ministry spokesman has told the Associated Press that police were responding to an emergency involving an "aggressive man" at the hotel, and Payne had "thrown himself from the balcony of his room." Police have not confirmed this statement.
Liam Payne was competing as a solo act on the X Factor in 2010 when Simon Cowell and the other judges decided he should be part of a boy band with fellow competitors Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. That band was called One Direction and it took the world by storm. They released five albums together with several hit songs including What Makes You Beautiful, Best Night Ever, and Steal My Girl.
After the band split up, Payne released his first solo album titled LP1 in 2019 which included the song Strip That Down.
Payne leaves behind a son named Bear who was born in 2017.
We are heartbroken by the sad passing of Liam Payne.
