People will be pausing today to pay their respects to those who fought and those who are still fighting for our freedom.
WOODSTOCK - People will be gathering at cenotaphs across Oxford today to honour all who fought for our freedoms.
Those who attend the Woodstock ceremony will witness a display by the Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team.
Colour Sergeant for Branch 55 Mike Pritchard says seeing this display is very moving.
"One of our veterans who passed on years ago, Mr. Jim Miller, was very supportive with the Harvard program and his family donates the cost to fly the Harvards over every year."
Pritchard says the Woodstock ceremony is very well attended, and this year they have so many wreaths to lay as part of the ceremony that they have split it into two parts - the first wreaths will be placed at 10:30 a.m., the second batch of wreaths will be laid following the Last Post.
No matter where you are in Oxford County, Pritchard encourages all people to go to their local ceremony.
"We really encourage people, especially new people who just moved to community, to come out and enjoy the ceremony. Bring the children out so they can understand the sacrifices that were made for their freedom."
In Woodstock there will also be a chance to warm up following the ceremony - everyone is invited to the Unifor Hall for refreshments and chili.
