The air ambulance that was called to the scene of last year's fatal helicopter crash in Waterloo was delayed in taking off. The "delayed takeoff" was under a policy that has since been rescinded by Ontario's Air Ambulance service, which is under investigation in several areas. John Prno, regional director of emergency medical services told the Kitchener-Waterloo Record that had the chopper arrived earlier, it would have been "a lot easier to get the patient out". The Pilot, Tiffany Hanna of Woodstock died in that crash, and student Scott Puillandre was seriously hurt. While the paramedics do not believe Hanna could have been saved, they say other confusion over the location of the crash scene was the reason it took them 19-minutes to reach the scene. It took another 34-minutes to load him into an ambulance.
